It's finally happened. Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti today issued an order requiring the employees of many non-medical essential businesses to wear cloth face coverings over their noses and mouths while they are at work — and employers must provide this gear for workers or reimburse them for their costs. - Article
I think the time has come because one of the first thinks I noticed when the world starting locking down was just how vulnerable grocery workers were without wearing masks.
To me it seemed that with most things closing that supermarkets would turn into superspreaders of the Corona Virus. Not so much the stores themselves but the people bringing in the virus by the hundreds, touching everything and dropping their groceries on the conveyor belt and spreading. Heck, I even thought about the virus on credit cards swiping from one card onto the next.
My thought was that if grocery employees were made to wear masks and gloves, the shock of seeing that would convince the general public to take this whole thing more seriously.
The first time I went to the grocery store in my Social Distance Mask , I was actually laughed at. So at least times have changed. I applaud the mayor for enforcing this new code.
